About the Life in the UK Test
The Life in the UK Test is a computer-based multiple-choice exam with 24 questions. It evaluates an applicant's understanding of British history, culture, and society. This test is a key step for those applying for British citizenship or indefinite leave to remain (ILR).
If you’re aged between 18 and 64, passing the Life in the UK Test is a requirement for your British citizenship or ILR application.
You don’t need to take the test if:
- You are under 18 or over 65.
- You have special circumstances, such as a long-term physical or mental condition (evidence required).
- You’ve already passed the test during a previous indefinite leave to remain (ILR) application.
To pass, you must achieve a score of 75% or higher, which means answering at least 18 out of 24 questions correctly.
